First day is over, and what a start! The day started off with an opening press conference inside the jump tower. The press conference was held by former Norwegian ski jumper, and now marketing manager for ski jump in the Norwegian Ski Federation, Bjørn Einar Romøren. The panel consisted of Terje Lund, event manager for RAW AIR, and ski jumpers Kamil Stoch, Andreas Wellinger, Johann André Forfang and Richard Freitag. The jumpers showed great excitement for the tournament, and Lund was ready for the circus to begin.
The first day of RAW AIR started off with qualifications. The weather conditions were ideal. The Norwegian ski jumper, Tom Hilde who announced his retirement yesterday and who will retire after RAW AIR, qualified for Sunday’s competition and will take his last jump here in Holmenkollen on Sunday. The Polish ski jumper, Kamil Stoch, won today’s competition, and the Polish audience showed great enthusiasm over today’s winner. Top five today consisted of Kamil Stoch, Robert Johansson, Richard Freitag, Johann Andre Forfang and Dawid Kubacki.
Tomorrow it’s team competition, and it will be even better. It’s expected to be many spectators and a full arena. RAW AIR is finally here, and the next nine days will be extremely intense, extreme and raw. (Photo: Christian Haukeli)
